the actual distance between the dispenser sensor and the user’s hand.
This establishes a controlled activation zone instead of relying only
on the intensity of reflected infrared light.

Distance validation and electronic filtering help distinguish intended
hand placement from polished sinks, chrome fixtures, standing water,
countertops and surrounding surfaces outside the programmed range.
This can help reduce unintended activations, repeated dispensing and
unnecessary soap consumption.
